All week I’ve meant to get out after work and take advantage of this gorgeous late afternoon autumn light. For whatever reasons, it didn’t come to pass until today when Red and I scooted over to a local park before the sun sank below the tree line. This park contains a wonderful rose garden which is quite a feast of sight and scent when in full bloom. By October many of the roses are gone and those which remain are starting to drift away with the season. Fortunately we were able to get a few shots, although the sun was fading faster than I would’ve liked.
We also visited other parts of the park trying to capture some of this golden autumn goodness. It’s a funny thing shooting against the clock. Since there is no time to waste getting persnickety about getting the perfect shot, all decorum goes out the window. No fussing, no fidgeting. Just get the shot before the sunlight disappears, dammit. (Oddly, I act as if my camera were a film camera. I treat every frame as if developing it would cost money. If I’m not happy with the way it looks through the viewfinder, I won’t snap it even though I realize it’s digital and doesn’t matter. I’m sure a psychiatrist would have lots of fun with that.)
I expect this delicious autumn light to hang around for a few more weeks. At least I hope it does.

Lovely photographs. I understand thinking of a digital camera as if it were a film camera. I do the same thing. I dislike “photoshopping” a photograph and rarely do it. I like being able to capture the light and achieve the results I was hoping for without having to manipulate the picture after the fact.

Photoshop cannot replicate natural light, at least not in a convincing way!
