top 10 beatles songs

When in doubt it is fun to create a list of stuff consisting entirely of your own biased opinions. It’s also a cheap and easy way to write a post on a rainy Sunday night. Or at any time. The difficulty comes in choosing what to list. Some lists are easy to compile. They organically rise out of the muck of your consciousness. This is not one of those. This particular list was a real exercise in making ridiculously tough choices. Which kind of eliminated the “easy” part of the exercise. But I am nothing if not decisive when I need to be and by my own twisted sense of propriety I needed to be with this.

There’s a strong possibility if I constructed this list an hour from now some of the principals would radically change. But it’s not an hour from now. It’s now. And this is what I’ve got. So without further delay I give you the top 10 Beatles songs of all time! According to me! And without explanatory annotations!

10) A Day in the Life
9) All My Loving
8) And Your Bird Can Sing
7) Get Back
6) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
5) Across the Universe
4) Revolution 1
3) Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
2) Two of Us
1) In My Life

  1. I don’t know that I could pick just 10. I love all of your choices. But, for whatever reason, Number 9 always grabs me. Love.

Hmmm. And here I thought I knew my Beetles music. I only know Norwegian Wood, and can play it on piano, of course. The rest of the list I was like, “Huh????”

thank you for that little tour through the Beatles. I grew up on this stuff. I once heard someone say that the Beatles are the most overrated band ever, and who knows, maybe that’s true, but in my opinion they do some pretty damn good music – especially when seen in the context of that time in history.
