This weekend’s Trifextra challenge: retelling.  Retell your favorite book in 33 words. I’ll give “The Grapes of Wrath” a shot. Deepest apologies in advance to John Steinbeck.

Drought and bankers drive us off the hard land to the California promise. But it’s another lie propelled by greed and inhumanity. A hungry soul fears nothing. Fight back, brothers. I’ll be there.

Your entry was great! It’s been so many years since I read this, I’d forgotten about it. This makes me want to read it again.

Thanks for linking up with Trifextra. I loved your apology in advance. Who knows? He may have loved it. I think you’ve done a great job with the prompt. It’s more than just a summary; it’s got style. Hard to pull off in just 33 words.

Hope you’ll come back on Monday for our 33rd Challenge Celebration.

Wait, wait, in the movie doesn’t it end sort of happily at the Federal Camp – “They can’t wipe us out; they can’t lick us. We’ll go on forever, Pa, ’cause we’re the people.” or maybe that’s just when I fell asleep as a kid watching on our big old Black and White Zenith TV? I always think of that camp helper saying “you’re welcome here”, it was like the promised land. Are you telling me that unhappiness continues after that? Well Heck!
