About a month ago a new irregular segment was introduced where I give snap reviews of ten totally random movies. The rules are simple. Reviews can only consist of one sentence not exceeding 20 words. The rating system is the widely used 4 star one, with ½ star increments. After posting I’ll add each new entry on the “Shorts” page listed above. Not much more to say other than here are today’s selections.

Airport ’77 (1977) – Disaster film in more ways than one with lots of old movie stars trying to chew non-existent scenery. (1½)

We breathe life into buildings so they can serve us. They rise among a flurry of spellbinding expectations, speculations of glory. Their unveilings are accompanied with excessive self-congratulatory celebration by their creators. Speeches are given, ribbons cut. Nowadays Asbury Park is best known as the town where Bruce Springsteen earned his musical chops. Here we are. The year is quickly winding down and I still haven‘t done 90%* of my holiday shopping. I should hop on that soon, don’t you think? But there’s more to consider other than enforced spending. Britney Spears turning 30. Herman Cain bowing out of the presidential race. My cold hands. I’m telling you, it’s difficult to focus on one thing. When you add that 2012 is less than a month away…well, systems start (more…)

Since I joined Flickr in 2006 I’ve taken a self-portrait shot standing in front of a mirror every December 2. There’s no significance to the date or mirror. It’s not anything I planned. It’s just happened and has now become a moral imperative. So this morning once I was dressed (but still barely awake) I grabbed the trusty Nikon, found a suitable mirror, and performed my obligation.
